I haven't had a Phil Collins post on here for awhile so I think now is the time.
Sussudio was released as a single in January 1985. The song is from Collins' third album, No Jacket Required, released in February of the same year. The song entered frequent rotation on MTV in May, and by July 6, both the single and the album reached number one on their respective U.S. Billboard charts.
Despite reaching No. 1 on the charts and its continuing popularity on adult contemporary stations, "Sussudio" was ranked number 24 on VH1's "40 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever." Appearing on VH1 Storytellers, Collins said that "Sussudio" is an imaginary girl's name meant to symbolize any girl. The song is about having a crush on someone when one is young. Sussudio! is also the title for a new musical based on the songs of Phil Collins.

Funny, but I recall Sussudio as being a huge hit when it was out! I think it's one of those songs that people don't want to admit to liking. ;)

I don't care what folks say, I loved this song (and album) when it came out. I believe it was one of the first CDs I got.
Phil always said that Prince's "1999" is what inspired to music in the song. In the remix, you can kinda hear it.

Great 80s tune. The two remxes weren't all that great, but the 12" remix is top notch!
